Own Your Story!

September 19, 2016

If we don’t take ownership of our stories, of the things that have happened to us, if we don’t speak our truths…then those stories will own us and weave their way into the fabric of our lives. And no matter how much we try to suppress those stories because of the shame we carry or the stigmas associated with them, those stories end up being told through debilitating and toxic means such as addiction, promiscuity, low self-esteem, anxiety, depression, eating disorders and so forth.

These are all examples of how your story gets told. It’s just that you’re no longer the one narrating the story. Your abuser is.
